About Alberto Benbunan
Entrepreneur. Fifteen companies over three decades, six sold, five to listed groups. Today, artificial intelligence and organisational change.
Alberto Benbunan was born in Chacao, Caracas, in 1976, and started his first companies there at eighteen: Ticketron, ticketing for live events; Webtron, which grew into one of Venezuela's top three web development firms; and Tucupón, sold to SuDescuento.com. Also Promotron and First Telecom, which didn't go as well. He moved to Spain in 2002.
In Europe he founded and ran Mobile Dreams Factory for fourteen years, a mobile marketing agency that worked with Telefónica, Vodafone and Banco Santander, and won at the MMA Awards, Cannes Lions and Eurobest. Then came Moviplans, acquired by Grupo DIA (BME: DIA); Mediasmart, programmatic advertising, acquired by Affle Group (NSE: AFFLE); DelSúper, acquired by Mox; Gelt, cashback with millions of users across Spain and Latin America, where he was chairman and later global CEO until its majority acquisition by Prosegur Cash (BME: CASH); and Prosegur Crypto and Sendity, built with the same group and acquired in 2022.
Today he is co-founder of Rebundle, an AI-native transformation firm that helps organisations turn artificial intelligence into measurable business impact through applied, role-based learning programmes. He is also co-founder of Eliza Project, managing partner at G8 Ventures, and an associate professor at IE Business School, where he has taught generative AI, digital strategy and mobile business since 2008. He has been an Endeavor Entrepreneur since 2015 and an Eisenhower Innovation Fellow of the 2018 class.
The question he cares about is not how to add artificial intelligence to what a company already does, but what it would build differently if AI had existed from the start. He lives in Madrid.
